Golf
The word golf comes from the English which, in turn, comes from the German “kolb”, which means club.
It was introduced in Portugal by the legendary golfer Sir Henry Cotton who put the Algarve on the world golf route, having also designed several classic golf courses along about 240 kilometers of Atlantic coast that connect Sagres, in the west, to Vila Real de Santo António, to the east.
Nearly 60 years later, Sir Henry Cotton's legacy still lives on.
